Well, i've been sick for the past two days. God knows how it happened. I think it was the fumes i inhaled when in the chemistry lab on friday.
Throughout most of my life i've always had a hard time catching any sort of bug. Suddenly when i least want it, the bug hits. Luckily it seems to be subsiding now and with the exception of having tons of phlegm in my throat, i'm back to normal.
Haven't really had much to write about the past few days. Couple that with the fact that i'm lazy busy, and you get a blog which has not been updated. Though i'm trying to commit myself to updating at least once every two days, i probrably won't since i am in fact very lazy busy. This keeps in line with the title of this blog "A randomly updated column of thoughts and opinions".
One thing that has been bugging(no pun intended) me for the past few days is the rioting and protesting by the Chinese over a Japanese textbook that's used by a small percentage of the population of that small island nation. I say it's time we all leave the japanese alone and quit bringing its painful past into the picture. Sure, they beat the stuffing out of China once and took over a part of Asia. Sure, they tortured and demeaned the people who refused to co-operate with them. This all happened, it has been done and the Japanese have been under constant scrutiny since then. I'm not saying what they did was right, all i'm saying is that it's time to move on and let a new slate be put on top of the old, bloody and dirty one. If say Japan was to claim Chinese soil as their own, that would warrant mass protesting, but to have hundreds of people out in the streets chanting over embellishment of history textbooks?
Pratically every history text book has been embellished in either minor or major ways, yet you don't see citizens marching past your house protesting any other embellishment. I'm going to end this post/rant with a famous quote:
"History is written by the victors."
- Winston Churchill (British orator, author and prime minister during World War II. 1874-1965)
